[News Release]: Championship Prep Work Continues at Chambers Bay
~ Representatives from the United States Golf Association, golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., KemperSports and Pierce County met recently at Chambers Bay to assess progress and preparations for the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open Championships.
COUNTY OKs CONTRACTS FOR GOLF TOURNEYS

MATT ALLEN APPOINTED NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF CHAMBERS BAY
KemperSports today announced Matt Allen as general manager of Chambers Bay, the award-winning links golf course opened in June 2007 just outside of Tacoma in University Place, Wash. In this role, Allen will oversee facility operations of Chambers Bay, awarded the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open Championships by the United States Golf Association in February.

Pierce County golfers now have the opportunity to share their award winning Chambers Bay golf course with friends and family. Chambers Bay has proclaimed May as Pierce County Resident Appreciation Month. Residents can invite up to three guests residing outside Pierce County to join them Sunday through Thursday and pay the Pierce County rate.

Far Hills, N.J. (Feb 7, 2008) – The United States Golf Association today announced that it has awarded the
2015 U.S. Open Championship to Chambers Bay, the spectacular municipal links course located on the scenic lower Puget Sound in University Place, Wash. The USGA also announced that Chambers Bay, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., will play host to the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2010. Chambers Bay will be the third municipal course to play host to the U.S. Open, following Bethpage Black in New York (2002, 2009) and Torrey Pines in California later this year. Chambers Bay will be the first golf course in the Pacific Northwest to hold the U.S. Open.
CHAMBERS BAY GOLF COURSE RECEIVES AUDUBON INTERNATIONAL SILVER SIGNATURE CERTIFICATION.
Audubon International announced today that Chambers Bay Golf Course is the first golf course to become certified as a Silver Signature Sanctuary in the state of Washington and in the Pacific Northwest. Signature certification is awarded only to new developments which are designed, constructed, and maintained according to Audubon International’s precise planning standards and environmental disciplines.

The spectacular course now under construction in the University Place area near Tacoma, Wash., is moving forward nicely. Though four weeks behind schedule, according to a recent status report released by Pierce County, the 18-hole layout designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. should be open for play in spring 2007.

Pierce County will kick off construction of the Chambers Bay destination golf course Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 a.m. Gathering on a plateau overlooking the scenic site of the 18-hole Scottish links designed by Robert Trent Jones II, LLC , county officials will conduct a ground breaking ceremony at 11 a.m.

CHAMBERS BAY NAME SELECTED FOR WORLD CLASS GOLF DESTINATION
Pierce County today announced Chambers Bay as the official name of the championship-caliber golf course constructed within the 930-acre Chambers Creek Properties, a former gravel mine overlooking Puget Sound. The course, designed to promote the areas economic development and tourism, is scheduled to open in 2007.
KEMPERSPORTS NAMED TO OPERATE CHAMBERS CREEK GOLF COURSE
Pierce County Executive John W. Ladenburg has announced that Kemper Sports Management of Northbrook, IL, will operate the Chambers Creek Golf Course. Kemper Sports also manages the highly successful Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the Oregon coast.
