Frequently Asked Questions for Chambers Bay

The much anticipated Chambers Bay golf course opened June 2007 on the shores of Puget Sound in University Place, Washington, located just 45 minutes from Seattle and 15 minutes from Tacoma, WA.    In every sense, this Scottish links-style course is a must play.

Ticket sales and volunteer information for the 2015 U.S. Open is not yet available.  Please REGISTER HERE if you would like to be notified once information becomes available.  In the meantime, we invite you to visit www.usga.org.

~ What is the status of the Golf Course?
A monthly update of the golf course is provided on the Superintendent's Status Report page of the website.

~ Who is the designer and what is the Par of the course?
World-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II, LLC designed Chambers Bay. A variety of tee boxes will be available to accommodate any skill level. The golf course is a Par 72.

~ How do I reserve a tee time?
Individual reservations are currently available for booking online 90 days in advance or by calling the golf shop at 253.460.4653.   Group events of 16 players or more may book up to a year in advance. for information on booking a group outing, please complete our group request form

~ Can you use a golf cart on the golf course?
No. Chambers Bay is a traditional links-style golf course. It is walking only. However, caddies are available as an optional service.

~ What if I have a question for the Architect?
Please visit our Ask the Architect section of the website. In addition, each month, members of the Robert Trent Jones II, LLC design team will answer one of the questions submitted about the course. Submit a question to Robert Trent Jones II.

~ How can I apply for a job at Chambers Bay?
All interviewing and hiring will be done through the course manager, KemperSports.  For contact information on hiring, please see the Employment tab of this website.  Please visit this website frequently for additional information.
 
~ How much does it cost to play Chambers Bay?
Please reference our Green Fees section of this site for our rate card.

~ How do I book a private event or group golf tournament?
Events can be booked by contacting the Director of Sales and Marketing Please  fill out our Outings and Event Request Form or call 253.460.4653.

~ Is the restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Yes. The clubhouse restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chambers Bay Grill offers spectacular views and can be reserved for private parties. There is also outdoor patio seating available.

~ Does Chambers Bay accommodate weddings and other large catered events?
Yes. A large semi-permanent tent will be installed on the overlook area to the left of the clubhouse from May through October. It will have the capacity to accommodate groups of up to 200 people.
 
~ Is there a public trail near the golf course?
Yes.  The Soundview and Grandview Trails provide approximately 4 miles of paved public trails that run in and around the golf course.  The trails offer a spectacular view of the golf course, Puget Sound and the surrounding islands west of the site. View Map

~ Where do I park?
The entrance for parking is at the south end of Grandview Drive. The main parking lot is at the top of the hill next to the clubhouse. A complimentary shuttle service takes guests and their clubs down to the starter building and practice facility.

~ Does Chambers Bay offer or allow RV Parking?
We do not offer RV service or the ability to have an RV overnight at our facility. The nearest facility for an overnight stay in an RV would be Oaknoll RV park in Lakewood, WA. They are located approximately 6.5 miles south east of Chambers Bay. Their local phone number is (253) 588-8867.

~ What about future plans for the site?
Pierce County is actively working to provide further public access to the site.  Central Meadow and North Meadow park areas will provide over 25 acres of open space for the public to enjoy.  Funding to access the beach over the railroad tracks and refurbish the existing pier for pubic use are also being actively pursued.
